Remembrance Day
Formerly known as Armistice Day, each year Remembrance Day falls on the 11th of November. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minute of silence is observed and dedicated to all soldiers who died fighting to protect our nation and our allied nations.
The moment of silence we observe was originally proposed by Australian soldier and journalist Edward Honey in 1918:
“Can we not spare some fragment of these hours of Peace, rejoicing for a silent tribute to these mighty dead? Individually yes! Too many of us know we will for our own kith and kin, for the friend who will never come back. But nationally? I would ask for five minutes, five little minutes only. Five silent minutes of national remembrance. A very sacred intercession.”
Here, at Aster Home Care, we always remember those who have served, who gave up their tomorrow so that we could enjoy our today.
We ask you to join us in a minute of silence to remember those who gave their life in the service of your country.
Lest we forget…
