Anzac Day Biscuit Drop
Nothing says ANZAC day quite like the Anzac biscuit. The memory of war can stir mixed emotions, but the ANZAC biscuit has become a beloved symbol of love and care.
The humble rations and care packages that were sent over to support soldiers contained this oaty cake because of its long shelf life and easy transportability.
So, what do ANZACS and Aster Home Care have in common?
Anzac Day is the day we commemorate all Australian and New Zealand soldiers who served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions.
Aster Home Care provides nursing services to people who have served, so we thought this was the perfect time to show our veterans a little extra love and thank them for their service.
Katie Poland, one of Aster Home Care’s nurses, personally baked 175 ANZAC biscuits. Then our army of nurses delivered a biscuit to each one of our clients and the response was great!
The comments of surprise and delight at such a simple gesture were touching. One lady said it was ‘very thoughtful’, others commented that they were ‘delicious’ and more than a few reminisced about how they used to bake and missed home baked goods.
Everyone loved it so much that we look forward to making this an annual tradition to recognize, honor, and thank our clients!
